Scripture Recitation Guidelines

Each school is allowed to enter 3 students, male or female, per Division.

Students in Division “A” (Grades 7-9) must memorize 10 – 15 verses of any passage they may choose. Students in Division “B” (Grades 10-12) must memorize 15 – 20 verses of any passage they may choose.

Missing 50 words or more will automatically result in a 77 (participation mark).

See the Dress Guidelines for appropriate platform event dress.

No costumes are allowed.

No singing is allowed.

The time limit for each recitation is 6 minutes long for both Divisions.

All scripture is to be memorized from the King James Version of the Bible.

The Judges will follow the recitation from the King James Version. There is no need to bring copies of the passage with you, however, please be sure to fill in the passage title on the Judge’s Form.

Please bring two copies of the Judge’s Form for Scripture Recitation with you to Convention. Fill them out in their entirety with the student’s information – do not forget to put the passage on the Judge’s Form. If the Judging Form is not filled out, you may not be judged.
