Athletic Competition Guidelines

Godly coaches can use sports to teach character and self-control. Sports can also be used as an instrument to create and promote proper school spirit. On the other hand, a sports programme has the potential of becoming an end in and of itself.

Student Convention is not intended to be a tournament or a championship. Participants who enter solely to compete in either sports or platform are missing the three basic aims of Student

Convention:

  1. To glorify God

  2. To promote standards of excellence

  3. To encourage fellowship and friendship among Christian youth

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT

Student Convention desires to assist schools in training young people to respect authority and conduct themselves in a Christian manner at all times, including stressful or demanding situations. Many times “Christian testimonies” have been tarnished by public displays of unsportsmanlike conduct. Remember, God is not necessarily concerned with who wins the game or who wins a ribbon but rather how that game was won and how that ribbon was won. Any participant, player (on the court or on the bench) or coach, who conveys and / or displays any attitude of disrespect, disgust, and / or out-of-line disagreement could be disqualified from athletic competition.
